Adolescent Eating Disorder Programs at ViaMar Health
ViaMar Health offers specialized eating disorder care for adolescents 12-17. Our programs focus on the unique developmental and emotional needs of this age group, providing a safe andsupportive environment. Adolescents receive separate care from adults, tailored to their specific stage of life.
Our Programs
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) offers structured, intensive support for adolescents needing a higher level of care. PHP runs Monday through Friday and includes individual and group therapy, meal support, family therapy, and psychoeducational sessions. This program is ideal for those requiring monitoring as they learn new coping strategies in their daily life. Our PHP patient care team involves a therapist, dietitian, and psychiatrist.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is designed for adolescents who have completed PHP or need less intensive care. It offers flexible scheduling, allowing them to maintain school and personal responsibilities while receiving essential therapy, meal support, and psycho-educational presentations. We collaborate closely with schools to ensure students can excel academically while receiving the care they need. (see how we work with local schools to accommodate treatment)
Comprehensive Care
Individual Therapy
Each adolescent works with a primary therapist and dietitian to address emotional and psychological factors of their eating disorder. Therapy also covers self-esteem, body image, and relationships. Adolescents are encouraged to express emotions, share their stories, and build confidence in social interactions, promoting healthier relationships with themselves and others.
Family Therapy Sessions
Family involvement is vital for recovery. Our family therapy and weekly support groups help strengthen communication, improve dynamics, and equip parents to support their child’s recovery. Families also participate in meal processes to better understand and manage meals at home.
Multidisciplinary Treatment Team
Our multidisciplinary team of therapists, dietitians, psychiatrists, and other specialists collaborate to create individualized care plans. This approach ensures all aspects of the adolescent’s well-being are addressed, from their physical health to their emotional growth.

Specialized Therapies and Groups
Self-Esteem, Confidence, and Relationship Building
We offer trauma-focused therapies like EMDR and psychodrama while building self-esteem and confidence. Through group therapy and activities, adolescents learn to express emotions, navigate relationships, and strengthen self-worth, improving their social well-being.
Body Movement, Body Image, and Mindfulness Groups
Our group sessions promote positive body movement, body image, and mindfulness practices. These groups help adolescents reconnect with their bodies, improve self-image, and build the emotional resilience needed to navigate both recovery and life challenges.
Intensive Family Programming
Our intensive family programming provides education and skills to families, helping them understand eating disorders and better support their child’s recovery. These sessions foster communication and emotional healing within the family.
Meal Support & Meal Process Groups
Our program features supervised meals led by dietitians and ARFID-certified specialists, offering a safe space for adolescents to develop healthy eating habits. Meal process groups encourage discussion of challenges, celebrate successes, and promote positive attitudes toward food.

We are in-network with most insurance providers, making our programs accessible to more families. Our team helps families navigate insurance benefits to ensure each adolescent receives the care they need.
